What is Classical Liberalism?

"Prior to the 20th century, classical liberalism was the dominant political philosophy in the United States. It was the political philosophy of Thomas Jefferson and the signers of the Declaration of Independence and it permeates the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Federalist Papers and many other documents produced by the people who created the American system of government. Many of the emancipationists who opposed slavery were essentially classical liberals, as were the suffragettes, who fought for equal rights for women." John C. Goodman National Center for Policy Analysis

Featured Quote

"The Nazis are well remembered for murdering well over 11 million people in the implementation of their slogan, 'The public good before the private good,' the Chinese Communists for murdering 62 million people in the implementation of theirs, 'Serve the people,' and the Soviet Communists for murdering more than 60 million people in the implementatio of Karl Marx's slogan, 'from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.' Anyone who defends any of these, or any variation of them, on the grounds of their 'good intentions' is an immoral (NOT 'amoral') enabler of the ACTUAL (not just proverbial) road to hell." Young America's Foundation Reagan Centennial

Sunday, February 6th is Ronald Regan's 100th birthday.  The Young America's Foundation is celebrating his birthday with a two day celebration.  You can find the schedule for the two day celebration here.  From the Young America's Foundation:
February 6, 2011, marks the 100th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birth—a celebration Young America’s Foundation is calling Reagan 100.

During Reagan 100 Young America’s Foundation will recognize President Reagan, his values, his vision, and his lasting contributions to Freedom and its future. Through the Reagan Ranch, the Reagan Ranch Center, and expanded programming all across the country, we will bring President Reagan and his ideals back to life for the next generation.
On Friday, February 4th Governor Palin will be speaking at 8 P.M. PST / 11 P.M. EST.  Former Vice President Dick Cheney will be speaking 7:30 P.M. PST / 10:30 EST.  C-SPAN will also be covering the event.  You can find coverage at their website

Also included in the festivities is the inaugural viewing of the film Still Point in a Turning World:  Ronald and his Ranch

The film, written and directed by Stephen K. Bannon, is the definitive examination of Ronald Reagan’s beloved ranch and its personification of his philosophy and values. Ronald Reagan’s Rancho del Cielo, the “‘Ranch in the Sky,” was not just a respite from the chaotic world that his Presidency encountered, but also a living embodiment of the values he held dear. The Ranch was where hard work and self-reliance showed themselves in the principles he championed for all Americans: Freedom, Prosperity, Victory.

Explore the Ranch, as few have, in this moving film, and see why it “cast a spell” on the man who became one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

Ronald Reagan's ideas and lasting accomplishments launched decades of unprecedented prosperity and advanced freedom worldwide. Young America’s Foundation understands that, today, our country needs his ideas and his vision more than ever, and is committed to utilizing the Reagan Ranch to inspire future generations through this great man’s example.
